Document Processing System (DPS)
Item processing demands accuracy, strict levels of control, exception handling and balancing – and it needs to be fast and easy. You’ll find all these capabilities and more in the Document Processing System (DPS), the fundamental link between your Windows®-based Unisys NDP-Series or NCR document processor and your core processing system.
DPS complements the advanced technology of NDP and NCR document processors, but goes further than other solutions. Item and image capturing, daily finesorting, bulk filing, microfilming and endorsement are all inherent functions of DPS, and together they make the package unique in the industry.
DPS is available on the following document processing machines developed by Unisys and NCR with a built-in Windows processor:Unisys: Source NDP, NDP30/110, NDP Quantum 200, NDP Quantum 300, NDP Quantum 600, NDP850/1150, NDP1600, NDP1825, NDP2000
NCR: NCR7780, NCR iTRAN Series, NCR Digital Check TS400
Easy Operation
DPS is straightforward and easy to understand as it takes the operator through the item and image capture, bulk file and fine sort processes. For example, beginning item or image capture is as simple as selecting an institution and capture run type from a menu.
Item and image capture is accomplished using sort patterns on the DPS proof file server, which is the core of the system and stores capture runs for later electronic transfer to your enterprise server. All capture decisions are made by the document processor and proof file server. In fact, nearly all DPS processing is independent of the enterprise server, which can be kept available for other tasks.
Sorting Characteristics
- Transit items that exceed a high-dollar cutoff amount can be out-sorted to expedite credit from the Federal Reserve.
- The number of items in a transit pocket can be limited to provide easier bundling and cashletter verification.
- On-us items that exceed a cutoff amount can be out-sorted for signature verification.
- Items with specific routing/transit and/or account numbers can be out-sorted as exceptions for special handling
- On-us items can be captured as transit items, and vice versa. This can be especially useful when financial institutions or holding companies purchase or sell branches or institutions.
- Specific account numbers can be converted during capture by masking the account number according to client-defined data.
Microfilm & Endorsement
DPS has complete stand-alone microfilm and endorsement capabilities. Items can be microfilmed separately, endorsed separately, or microfilmed and endorsed simultaneously. The operator can specify one of 999 sort patterns from the IES Specifications, and one of five IES Endorsement Specifications for Image Character Mark control and endorsement text.
