Disaster Processing

Information Technology, Inc., in conjunction with SunGard, provides a guaranteed, state-of-the-art backup processing service that is available to all ITI clients.

A reliable backup processing center or "hot-site" is critical in the event of a disaster. The financial industry's reliance on computers for information processing has made it mandatory for every institution to secure a workable solution for recovery of data processing capabilities.

SunGard, as the primary provider of disaster site facilities for Unisys hardware and in conjunction with ITI, has created two alternatives for disaster processing; two mobile units and two hot-site fixed location facilities.

The mobile units are configured with an NX4601 ClearPath or larger enterprise server, a DP1000 reader/sorter, a DP500 Image System (if applicable), two MICR encoding machines and all applicable peripherals. The units which are based in St. Paul, MN and Phoenix, AZ can be driven to on-site locations within a 12 hour radius. If outside the radius, the units are air-freighted to the backup site.

When a local backup processing site is not readily available, ITI clients can subscribe to the Mobile Data Center. The Mobile Data Centers are custom designed trailers complete with computer room and operations area that allow you to simply relocate your data processing operation to a designated area, such as a parking lot outside of your facility.

These Mobile Data Centers feature work space for a staff of up to 10 people, climate control to protect equipment and personnel, and full voice and data communications. A single hook-up supplies electricity to the entire center, or when power is unavailable for any reason, mobile generators can be added to the configuration to provide dependable power for the Mobile Data Center.

SunGard also provides traditional "hot-site" facilities in Scottsdale, AZ and Warminster, PA (a township in Northeast Philadelphia). Both facilities are conveniently located with fast access to international airports as well as general aviation airports. SunGard has complete processing capabilities for ClearPath systems, A-Series, reader/sorters, tape drives, printers, card readers, endorsers, multiple data communication processors and lines, and multiple system software levels.

In conjunction with the hot-site capability, SunGard offers ITI clients the option of performing the check processing function locally and then transmitting proof transactions to the hot-site facility to be included in the application update. This option allows checks and other items to be captured, balanced and processed for clearing at a local site, eliminating the need to physically transport the items to the hot-site facility for processing.
